Irene Garcia Middle School’s NJHS Supports Cancer Awareness with Walk and Letters of Hope Irene Garcia Middle School's National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), sponsored by Mrs. Alma Marroquin, took part in the district’s cancer awareness walk to show support for those affected by cancer. Alongside students and staff from across the district, NJHS members walked in unity to raise awareness and contribute to the fight against cancer. In addition to the walk, the students extended their support by writing heartfelt letters to local children receiving treatment at the Vannie Cook Children's Clinic in McAllen, Texas, offering encouragement in their battle against childhood cancer. This act of kindness brought a personal touch to their efforts, spreading hope to young patients. Mrs. Marroquin expressed her pride in the students for their dedication to both the walk and the letter-writing initiative, reinforcing the NJHS values of service and compassion. Irene Garcia Middle School continues to promote community engagement and meaningful causes, making a positive impact both locally and beyond.
